What to Expect

Over the years — and especially during COVID — I’ve come to a deeper understanding of what first responders, nurses and teachers face in their work and the kinds of support that are most helpful. I completed specialized training for clinicians who work with first responders because I believe a safe, understanding space is essential to reducing the impact of this work on your health and relationships. My practice is committed to providing that safe space and to continually learning and adapting to the evolving needs of people in these roles within the Hudson Valley.

❋ A safe space to explore

I understand the unique concerns first responders have about seeking therapy, including worries about job impact or unwanted interventions.
My approach is collaborative and grounded in reality: together we discuss your wellbeing, coping strategies, and any safety concerns in a way that prioritizes you, your privacy, and professional reality. You will never leave wondering if something you said is going to get you in trouble.

❋ Culturally competent

I understand the unique culture of police, fire, EMS, dispatch, and healthcare.
The high-alert nervous system, the dark humor, the shift work, the unspoken expectations, and the chronic exposure to trauma are not things you have to explain to me.

You don’t have to filter, translate, or worry about being misunderstood — you can speak freely and be met with understanding, not judgment.

❋ Brainspotting

❋ Real world interventions

I offer grounded, evidence-based strategies that actually fit the reality of first responder life — irregular hours, high call volume, adrenaline crashes, sleep disruption, compassion fatigue, and compounding exposure to trauma and high stress situations.

The work integrates nervous system regulation, boundary building, trauma processing, and functional coping skills so you can show up at work and in your personal life with more stability and resilience.

Brainspotting helps your body release what the job asks you to carry — the calls that linger, the stress that settles in your chest, the moments you can’t quite shake. Instead of talking in circles, Brainspotting works with your nervous system to gently process what’s stuck so you can feel more in control. It’s a grounded, effective way to support your resilience while honoring the realities of the work you do every day.

❋ Flexibility in scheduling

I understand that the job isn’t always predictable. I work to ensure that making the time for you doesn’t become another stressor. I offer flexible scheduling and reserve spots in case of an immediate need for support. If you have a bad shift and need space to process, you will not have to carry it with you.
